2 souls in everyone
One of them flew away
Left you with the ashtray
And the single sunray shining
Through the last crack in your window

You dragged around your memories in toe
Carried them in a safety bag
You began asking strangers what it’s like to smile
In a while they started getting wary
Your obsessive validation hunt was getting quite scary

For what it’s worth an over indulgence of sentiment
Isn’t the cement that builds this life
But best that you don’t know
For what it’s worth there’s no sin in living
For what it’s worth theres really no point in your spirit retention
Not to mention the desperate theories based on abstention
But best that you don’t go there
For what it’s worth it’s all presentation
For what it’s worth it’s worth absolutely nothing
For all your high hopes it’l boil down to your pension
And this life after all is really quite fatal
But best not to know, But best not to know

You asked you asked where did your soul go to
You pleaded you begged where am I going to
Built meaningless lists in your head
Got bitter twisted thinking that they fooled you
But when the final winds of realism read
They shook you, you fooled yourself

The past is the passing of nerves in your head
The past you take with you every night in your bed
The future is an illusional delusion that’s never quite clear
Your future is the city by the sea and your girl waving near
And love is an overdose of collective chemicals
Your love is a dream based on video rentals

"For what it’s worth it’s all presentation"

Wow, this line stuck out for me.
Well done. I'll store this away and come back for another read later.

This is incredibly creative. It sounds like a song to me, one sung beautifully. I really enjoyed this...The first stanza ROCKED and everything after it was awesome, too   Keep it up!!!

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.
