Need to pray

With my darkling

Was twisted thoughts, that led this way
A place of peace, I found that day
A giving in, took place I'd say
A giving up, the need to pray

It started many years ago
I'd start to change, but he'd say no
and weak, I'd let the darkling grow
his strength a strength I'd come to know

His words became, the quiet thing
I lost control of everything
But comfort came and I would sing
of burdens shared and dancing kings

And now on any given day
What pain may come, is darkling prey
My lifes become, a puppets play
I've given up, the need to pray

i like this one a lot it was very well written and I like the rhyme scheme especially of the first and last stanzas

The first sense that comes to me,
through this,
is the overwhelming demise
of hope...

I felt the play of words
and the playing on of one's mind...
by a darkling...
