Between the Lines

I slept well last night
even with the soft sound of tv voices.
I drifted off to before places and
yesterday moments when
I felt the closeness of you.

Sometimes words replayed themselves
in small vignettes, and I could see
behind the blue of eyes, a depth
that exposed itself when you
couldn't contain it any longer.

Somehow and for whatever reason,
I am missing those moments
where I felt contentment in your arms
and warmth from lips
that could hold my attention forever.

There is nothing new in my words,
nothing notable to be critiqued,
just an honesty held for you to see.

M

Sometimes memories are comforting and bring back sweet moments without pain .... you slept well!
Very melancholic, but so well written.
