Senses

What if dreams are just fragments of memory made from mishap?
Just pieces of everyday life and bits of
"I wish...I wish...I wish...'
I'm haunted by flickers of a flame
that might possibly never been lit.
I shudder at the touch of the ghost of want.

A brush of lips,

touch fingertips.

I cry,

yet, still I sleep.

I could wake, but that would make
what's left of you retreat.
Love is a fairy-tale, a fantasy, a fake.
I could need you oh-so-bad,
but real it does not make.
Forgive me all my trespasses, I'm sorry I'm so sad,
but the saddest part is all we shared
is things we never had.
If the intent is not in your heart,
please, don't let it fall from your mouth.
I do not need another dream,
just touch, taste, smell, and sound.

I love the way you write! I've been trying to get to that point, myself. I'm unable to express emotion towards certain things that would make a wonderful subject for my poetry, but I'll just let you do it, instead.
