Note-I think I should tell you what this poem is about. Last night my grandmother passed away from cancer. I have been by her bedside all week but I decided that I would go to a very important school dance yesterday. I had a lot of trouble deciding but my friends convinced me to go. In the middle of the dance I had a feeling she was gone and I sat down and didnt do anything the rest of the time. I am now regretting the decision I made to go to that dance. Everyone says its not my fault. But I miss her so much. And I could have said my last good bye. I had the choice of being with you or being among others I chose the others Now I feel that I have made the wrong choice I loved you so much and now you are gone You let go when I was not near And now I have nothing Im left here in fear I want you to know That I miss you so Its really a shame that you had to go Now I can never hold your hand Be with you when you are scared I cant look into your eyes and tell you I love you Because even if I did you wouldn’t hear Everyone says its not my fault That I should have gone Had fun But I know I made the wrong choice I could have been there with you |

Sniff. That is so sad. I am so sorry. I have all my sympathy! But don't be too hard on yourself. Very nice poem. I really felt a lot of emotion in it. I wanted to cry reading it. |

I have this feeling she would have wanted you to go to that dance, Sara. And of course, her time of passing had nothing to do with your time of living. Sad write, Sara. But do not feel guilty, unless you are God?..you had no control of the timing. |

What amazing writing... I can sympathize. We have all lost someone in some way that we feel bad about. Please, don't beat yourself up. Your grandmother knows you love her, and she would have wanted you to enjoy something so poignant in your life. You said yourself the dance was very important, and I think your grandmother would not have wanted you to miss such an important memory. I look forward to reading more of your thoughtful words. Take care. Selina |
