I was approached by a lady I know who
asked me to collaborate with her and
write a poem about an Aboriginal
tribe of people who once lived nearby.

* * * *

A cruel wind blows across the land
that was once their sacred burial site
All that remains are shells and ashes
that cover the beach which was once
their ancestral fishing ground

Time has erased all memory of
their meeting place where tribal elders
once told tales of long ago
Stories about the dreamtime
and their ancestors

The unforgiving winds and the
ever changing tides have erased
their footprints in the sand and
each change of season has removed
all trace of a life that once was
Only the howling wind mourns
the loss of the ancient people and
carries their spirits into
the dead of night

Late at night when the moon is high
the trees become a ghostly silhouette
against the silver edged clouds
An image of the lost souls is reflected
in the gentle ripple of the water
as the Southern Cross becomes their guide
through the eon and for all eternity

* * * *

Sue, this is an astounding write.

Late at night when the moon is high
the trees become a ghostly silhouette
against the silver edged clouds
An image of the lost souls is reflected
in the gentle ripple of the water
as the Southern Cross becomes their guide
through the eon and for all eternity.

How sad that so many peoples who are a bit different have been nearly eradicated from our planet based on fear and prejudice.

I am proud of you for writing this.

Hugs, Marti

Great collaboration, Sue...why don't you ask Helen to join us here at Passions?  Then we could see more of your duets...and that would please us all a great deal!

Hey...I'm liking the new photo, too!

You & Helen write as one with spirit pen...
Stirring, soulful and a write of great import.

Loving hugs to you both and prayers for those who have gone...

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Sue and Helen, this is so very hauntingly well-said, dearest friends, it saddens me how Darwinism always seems to put pressure on all the smaller tribes of the world, which are just as much human as the bigger civilizations are! (sad sigh) I myself am of Cherokee Indian blood, a Native American tribe that was forced to walk the "trail of tears" and surrender the land my family used to have! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friends, they will never be forgotten, we all love you both so much! You have such beautiful hearts, sweet Sue and Helen, thank you for sharing, and Helen, I sure hope you join us too, we would love to read more from you!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Many thanks to all of you.  This poem means a lot to Helen and she loved the picture I chose to go with it which was taken at Bathurst Island at the top end of Australia.

Take care......Sue
