Oh, what is this mortal coil, Where living makes life to spoil, And measure of pleasure is deposed by toil; Oh, what is this mortal coil? Would any advantage be had By switching the good with the bad Taking up silver knife and poison pen To write in the red of the life flowing Each corpuscle and syllable to send Mystic message to the unknowing. Would there be any pleasure remaining If those mythical hypocritical beings complaining Were to stop and clean your self abuses And take down those literary nooses That you have hung yourself by for so long, And would these things gone make you strong? Probably not, For as soon as you end your ways, The very next cycle of days Will find you forgot A drunken sot In some gutter you’ll rot To those who recently gave you praise, But will this be real? Will you in that new tomorrow feel Or just remain eternally numb For every tomorrow to come. Probably not. For if you find your scribed tomb Locked inside some dingy hotel room, Spilling red and or just mind dead From some cheep bottle overfed, Always remember you’ve got a friend in Gloom. Gloom This might mean very little to most, but I post all my writings here; even if they might drop quickly out of sight |

Well Professor, this tells me a lot about the type of person you are, and that in spite of your friend's shortcomings, you accept him/her anyway. I do believe that they do always have a friend in Gloom ![]() |

I understand what you're saying and I hope your friend reads and heeds this. Sometimes friends have to lay it on line for those they care about. You've proven your friendship with this poem. |
