A SADNESS WITHIN...

You said I had a sadness
I didn’t know it showed
I carry it inside me
And it’s with me wherever I go
My life was changed forever
When I was a young teen
You see my one true love was taken
When he was only 16
The car that he was driving
Skidded out of control
And he died a lonely death
By the side of the road
I cannot bring him back
I cannot seem to let him go
But often in my dreams he visits to say hello
Would my life be any different
If he were still here with me
I’d like to think it would be
But that’s something I’ll never get to see
