From the balcony
I could look out to sea
And watch passing boats at night
As they cruised in search of fish
Or paraded in grand style looking
For the opposite gender to catch.

Either way they were trolling
And I was content to stand facing breeze
You by my side with a serious look
That puzzled me at the same time it pleased

When it grew late
And the breeze turned cooler touch to us
I put an arm around you and felt the warm
Of another heart

I wonder how long it would have taken
For daylight to rise above the waves
Had we stood there all night
Instead of laughingly parting
As the demands of outside began to creep
Into should and could be

When you were gone
The waves still hit the shore
With an extended S of sound
And the boats still trolled in back and forth
Looking for what they had
Or had not found

In retrospect
The scene could have played any way
One might imagine,
Yet the way it played was right
For then
And for now

What joy this morning Ron. Two of your pieces for me to read and savour! And all is right with the world.

Serene's got Vivaldi...

I'm listening to an Irish chant...

works with THAT, too!

Well done, Cap'n!

This piece was very beautiful, and very captivating. I especially liked your extended S...what a powerful way of explaining a sound. TD

That is my favorite stanza...oh how you make the heart beat faster with your words...especially when your words mirror a similar experience...

Now, Capt. Ron, this part I like best, though
I love the whole poem. It's very romantic.

Ron.... You contemplate a lovely scene, a bit melancholy, but accepting as well.  I guess sometimes you just have to go with the flow.  Hugs to you, my friend.
