The table smooth, of finest felt where chips of souls did lie. And as the cards were deftly dealt no player blinked an eye. The Jack of Spades and sister Queen were lying still in view. And as the cards did feel the green a gambler fought anew. For in the hand of sweating palm a king did find a niche. And as the player voiced a psalm an eye began to twitch. And now the table came to two who bet the house their all. A million bills till last card through before they said “I call”. A boat was held of aces high with a pair of threes in black. The gambler stared a lifeless eye a knuckle did not crack. Before the winner was declared this game of stud, not draw. A final card was flipped and shared, a flush did bring their awe. For in the grasp of steady hand a flush of spades and royal. Unknown to them till last card stand the fruits of labor’s toil. They heard of this, two thousand grand where a loser went home broke. But to a home of children’s hands the winner left his toke. And now the cards will always be turned up for all to see. Two million souls for charity a thousand lives set free. |

Barry, The moral gambler? This is so, so awesome. I was a poker player (played regularly and usually won) when I was young so this one really intrigued me...but the ending, you out did yourself yet again. I can't help it, Barry, you are marvelous...sorry, I got to gush. Patricia |

Ahhh... the (poker) face, that launched a thousand chips! Read em and weep aye? Barry, I knew you would always play your cards right. I’m glad the chips fell, the way they did! I hope life always deals you a fair hand! Great Write Barry! Richy [This message has been edited by Richy (06-01-2003 07:55 PM).] |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Barry, I only wish all gamblers that are charitable could win, I really admire those who make moves like these and sacrifice their possessions even to make life easier for many others out there! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! How cool a write! I could never play poker... The eyes would give it away...but this was such a great story inside a very well written bit of poetic genius. TD |
