Disappearing Act Many, many years ago, the whole world was alive. It shimmered and rustled, as age old secrets were reveled. Seas of aqua blue, hills of emerald green, proud trees standing tall, and stars in velvet skies. In the present things have changed a bit, the whole world still struggles on. It no longer shimmers nor rustles, and age old secrets are now kept. Seas are filled with garbage, hills flattened to make malls, trees are only firewood, and smog covers stars in pitted skies. Many, many years from now, the whole world is now dead. Shimmers and rustles are now long gone, and there's not a secret to be heard. The seas have all dried up, hills have disappeared, children ask what trees are, and all stars have fallen to the ground. |

How very sad....this poem brought tears to my eyes....I remember sweeter times when there was more beauty in the world....I have lived from coast to coast in my country and have found mother natures beauty is still here to be enjoyed...let us also preserve what we have left...Great writing... I agree with Startime. The beauty of mother nature can still be seen. She is not as crisp and sweet as she once was, but she can still be found away from the big city and the factory town. And it is critical that we preserve her beauty so that our children can enjoy the magnificence she has to offer. Your writing reminds us of that! Thank you. -Patricia |

I agree, I wrote this poem when I was angry over the lack of conservation. Thank you passing shadows! Descendus Averno Facillis Est |

Aye... this poem speaks the truth of many places... Luckily enough, here in Montana... we still enjoy natural beauty... sadly not as much as 3-5 years ago although... Great write... One in a sea of millions has the power to change the world... |
