Rain falls, softly... pattering against my window pane. I search for you. Thoughts of you fill my head, warm my heart, stir my soul. Why are you so far away, yet so close? It's unfair. I pout for a brief moment, but revisit our last encounter and slowly smile, knowing you are right there. I feel you - somewhere out there - feeling me. I promise myself it's not just me, and my silly letters... With their mundane words and clichés And you with your broken computer. The stolen time we share. I am so lonely...listening to the rain wishing your arms were wrapped around me warming my cold - making me feel so alive. I miss the sweetness of your voice in my ear. We speak under false pretences, pretending not to love each other as much as we do. You throw out funny references...that I can secretly laugh at without any sign of my affections. We are so cool...controlled... But my heart cries out to you, silently. I doubt myself for a moment, wondering where you are needing you to tell me. I am so afraid of losing you. Sadness, regret, longing....must be the rain. But then you're there, everywhere giving yourself wholly to me. My tender heart smiles. My universe, for a brief moment, is altered. I live my fantasy, grasping at moments as they fly by never wanting it to be over. But we do what we do. I keep writing, as I always will... I'm tenacious in my pursuit of your heart. You are careful and designate your words. It drives me crazy. And I wonder... is it love, or just the rain? |
