In Favor of a Water Spider Down meadow green to silver pond Where water spiders dance upon A glaze of wetness meant to be Their highway to eternity A toad upon a nearby rock With tongue poised to reduce the lot Is spotted by a next of kin A long and scaled amphibian An eagle’s eye has timed it’s plunge Toward a snake about to lunge A small distracted toad whose tongue Will instantaneously be flung Upon a spider who’ll survive With lightning speed and crafty dive While all are posed to make a kill They know the outcome is God’s will But suddenly they all dispersed In unison as though rehearsed I moved to scratch an itchy twitch God whispered,“Man, my only glitch” Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (05-29-2003 08:25 PM).] |

Ha! Elizabeth that's so cute. Yeah man is more often than not the problem. What a beautiful description of the balance of nature....real nice images. I haven't read any of your poetry for a while but this reminds me of what I've missed. Remember not to scratch that itch until the play is finished. Eric |

ROFL @ this one... the earlier verses brought memories of wading along with muck between my toes trying to sneak up on tadpoles... the ending has me joining Bal in howling! LOL |

LOL, Liz, this is so cute. And this ending is priceless.... HaHa!! Upon a spider who’ll survive With lightning speed and crafty dive While all are posed to make a kill They know the outcome is God’s will But suddenly they all dispersed In unison as though rehearsed I moved to scratch an itchy twitch God whispered,“Man, my only glitch” I love it. Hugs, Ethel |

THis poem was inspired by recollections from my youth of swimming in a spring fed pool, mud bottom, filled with water spiders, tadpoles and an eel. Not hard to write about impressions from childhood. Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I appreciate them so much Liz |

(sigh) Oh Elizabeth, this is beautiful, sweet friend, yep, it might be a glitch but, yay, the water spider survived! (kiss on cheek) I actually love spiders because they are wonderful artists and their webs prove it and if there is a spider close to my foot, I just love to bottle it up and put it on a windowsill, yay, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |
