There is simply too much history here.
I tried to figure
if I hated you more for breaking his heart
or so obliviously taking it away from me.
Words
sweet gestures
and soft romantic clues
that no one could guess but the two of you
long ago
when my heart was breaking before I realized.
Why am I subjecting myself to this kind of sadness
when there is so much love now to have?
I suppose I hate you
(if I could hate)
because you will always be there
announcing yourself into his heart
on quiet days
when the color green
stands out in someone's eyes.
There are simply too many nights waiting
that I wish I could erase.
So why am I putting myself through this pain
wishing your memory could dissappear
wishing you weren't the cause
of many lonely April nights.
Why can I forgive him
and not you
when you were obviously oblivious
that he left my heart for yours?

You could hurt me with your bare hands. You could hurt me using the sharp edge of what you say. JEWEL

I have many scars.  I am always astonished when one "wakes up" for no apparent reason and becomes red and sore.  I think the soul reacts the same way at times.

Great poem, thank you for sharing it.

This flowed with the twinge of regret...never to be seen in such an open and honest deluge.
Extraordinary talent! TD

I agree with Marge. You are really pouring it out lately.

Lots of feeling behind these words.

Damn girl, this is powerful.  I love the way you write life so raw and honest.  This is a keeper~
