Vagrant Heart

You treat my heartlike a vagrant, it has
no residency in your life, why did you
rescind our beginnings so abruptly.

Yes, perhaps I was not so posh, but I was
trying to gratify your wishes only to be left
standing alone.

Now, I stand on a street corner waiting,
with visions of you passing by, then you
pass ~ giving me a glancing gaze, loathly,
with your expression, as you passed.

Yes, I know you told me many times that
I could be your diamond in the rough and
you would polish me to a glitter.

But, you doubted that I could ever shine,
after all my years of whiskey, cigarettes and
wild woman.

But I pleaded and promised that my past
was history and perhaps a mystery and
that all I ever wanted was love in my heart.

And now, I realize that I had looked at all
the wrong faces and in the wrong places
and did all the wrong things.

Yes, I know I told you that I had built a
all across my heart to protect it from all
the wrong ones that crossed my paths
and who had broken it many times.

Then, you briefly entered my empty life
and jackhammered the wall down, and
showedme what love truly was

And now, you have given up and left me
and my heart standing like a vagrant.

I know how this is. Before Liam I was hurt by 3 different guys. But Liam broke down the barriers. This is sad though and I hope Liam doesn't up and leave me. That is why you pray a lot.

You've written well! Somehow, though, I believe your heart is just tender to the pain of others. I believe you wrote this in a comforting manner. I appreciate your writings!

Blessings!

Been there, my friend. Well written and stated. I think it's part of what's called
"growing pains", but the way I look(ed) at it....MAKE ME A DWARF! Alas, you move on instead and always love them in memory.

Also, if the afore-mentioned hadn't happened, wouldn't have what I now have...trade-offs, you know? And I know I got the better deal!

enjoyed

Heartfelt sentiments in tears on the page...
The promise of love should never leave  vagrant what is such an honest and generous blossom. Nicely done. TD
