I linger in the doorway
Not wanting to leave just yet
Although I know I should go
I wander through the past

I dwell on memories sweet
And times that light my heart
Yet those times are now over
And time has come to move on

My heart yearns for him
His touch, his smile, his love
Yet forbidden to me his heart
And forbidden to me his arms

There is no point in staying
There is no point in trying
When only one is free
The others chains not broken

And so I now must leave
And put this all behind
And take that painful step
That cuts all the ties

There is sense of relief when taking a giant step forward. I understand this completely, and truly, I am in a far better place since then. I hope eventually, you will be too.
