I’d rather die this moment than to say this last goodbye I’d rather hide my feelings than for you to see me cry I’d rather give you truth than lies and hold you by my hand I’d rather you just listen now and try to understand Why the years have changed us and why our love has died? Why the feel of sadness now and why the tears we’ve cried? Why the day of habit and why the call of change? Why the courage to now speak and why I feel so strange? We’ve grown together from our youth, then slowly grew apart We’ve given much but never saved the love within our heart We’ve tried, I’m sure, but not enough, to mend what time did break We’ve given all our happiness, but now there’s none to make Time has taken victims, but here I still do try Time and fate write future from beginnings to goodbye Time to say I’m sorry that our time has lost its love Time to make you listen to my prayers to God above Life is but a footstep to the truth that waits in store Life, our time of trying, of relationships and more Life, where every moment is a struggle with our heart Life, where we all battle and from where we all depart |

You did it with perfection! Going into my library this is. Excellent. Chris "Hope" is the thing with feathers- |

Rick, This is beautiful. I feel your heart in every poem you write...God is foremost in your life. Let His steady and loving hand continue to guide you. I have been there, my friend. Oh, I have been there! But I just call on Him...and he provides. Looking forward to more of your words, Patricia |

Chris, thank you for this reply, the heart just keeps speaking, so on I do write, filled with expectations, to just cry upon a page, but it makes me feel better. Your comments are very much heart felt and appreciated. Rick You have written many words of wisdom that may not have an answer. And, might I add, very well done. I think that a few of us have been there and can relate to how you feeel. Ariana |

Rick my friend, sorry I have missed a few of your latest poems, but I have been busier then a one legged Irishman, at a Riverdance audition! Lol Whether or not these are words are in fact true for you. They are a very honest reality of many relationships. And it is especially hard, when you have been together for so many years. What can you say, people change. And many times, that change, widens an ever increasing gap between them. And all the nice thoughts, and prayers in the world sometimes, just can’t change the fact that your feelings for each other have changed as well. Loving someone, and being in love with someone, are two different things. And just because you may no longer be in love with that person, it doesn’t mean that you still don’t love them very much, and have the strongest of feelings for them. And the last thing that you would ever want to do, is to hurt them in any way. But how in the world, do you tell someone you’ve spent so many years with, that you feel it may be time, to go your separate ways? Some figure it out, and just do it. And others, just don’t, for a myriad of reasons. Sometimes those who stayed, wish they hadn‘t? And sometimes those who left, wish they hadn’t either? These verses of yours, put it very nicely: “We’ve grown together from our youth, then slowly grew apart We’ve given much but never saved the love within our heart We’ve tried, I’m sure, but not enough, to mend what time did break We’ve given all our happiness, but now there’s none to make” “I’d rather die this moment than to say this last goodbye I’d rather hide my feelings than for you to see me cry I’d rather give you truth than lies and hold you by my hand I’d rather you just listen now and try to understand” Again, very sad, but honest words Rick.... I hope life is treating you in a kind way You have a relaxing weekend friend. As always, a wonderful write! Your pal, Richy [This message has been edited by Richy (05-31-2003 04:00 PM).] |

A said truth, and you have expressed what many cannot... Recalled, the cycle, even in this painful swirl, that from death comes new life... Whatever the context. All prayers. TD |
