she whispers What becomes of a broken heart? Can you see the crack from the start? When it’s finally broke in two How come the breakings not through? She asked me these things with tears Rolling down her pretty face Smooth despite her years With her mature grace. speaking I don’t have the answers you seek And it hurts me to see tears on your cheek I’d make it all right but I don’t know how I expect you’ll get through it now So I gave her the best hug I had Knowing it wasn’t enough to make her glad But it was all I could do I had no heart glue looking back She hugged her self and bowed her head Dressed in black sitting with the dead There was nothing else to say Except to silently pray. |
