the one legged pigeon was waiting for his coffee and we were having ours as I rattled off a few frames each time I would compose her in the shadowbox she would eye me with her sweet suspicion and I would fall a little deeper into this strange valley of tides we found ourselves in that early AM wandering the vacant walkways and slumbering alleys of Venice enraptured by her beauty and not able to steady my tongue or clear my field of visions I relied on instinct and the vodka remains of the hours not so long ago passed and she always wore that cautious smile with a satin bow under wraps but I knew it was there and so as the morning passed into day we fell into the fold of one another like moonlight into a tapestry of clouds and we remained that way for longer than I can remember my memory not being much of a almanac and hours and minutes not being much of anything when things are like that |
