TASTE OF HONEY

As we moved in rhythm
I could see him there above me.
Oh God I loved this man.

And my heart cried.
My soul cried.

Such sweet ecstasy for me,
but mundane for him.
Will he remember this
tomorrow?
Will he relive
this journey that has
taken me to heavens door?

And again my heart
and my soul cried.

For he had been there
before with another,
whom he had loved as
I now love him.
And now I wait
for the nearness
of him.
With love
With yearning!

How can the taste of honey
be so bitter?

* That which gives light, must endure burning *
