Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-05-21 03:54 PM

That the whole of things
Are round,
To some extent,
Time seems to come
Cycling in and of itself
Centering into a vortex
Pulling you through its weave to
A future
Or a past

Its up to you to know
To describe
The destination
If you can

But as one looks through gray
Substance of silver and blue
Seem to shimmer uncontrollably,

As so many answers to universal questions
Seem to shy away
From black
Or
White,

For, were it that simple,
God would have left
Color behind
Would have allowed no choice,
And we would not know life
For dull

~*~

(from where does she think
or speak)
ah, from listening, knowing there were
reasons, never knowing from whence
they first came,
but there they are, and how like
government to riddle documents
with bigotry
seeding words into place
so that hatred and misunderstandings
could occur,
when, given choice,
and given substance,
colors could survive together
and thrive,
one beside another,

as if in a garden planted, where roots
could grow deep, and blessings
dwell in birdsong

nay,
do not seed my garden
with lies in disguise of good deed,
when the cultivator bests himself after having
sown words of discontent,
and does not
stay for harvest

for to plant equally, maintaining
only as much ground as God intended
for each of his creation
to live

is to know
the circle of life…

Are round,
To some extent,
Time seems to come
Cycling in and of itself
Centering into a vortex
Pulling you through its weave to
A future
Or a past

Sow your words well,
Reap a harvest
That His love was meant to bestow.

[Thoughts that occurred after watching a PBS documentary on the forming of the FHA after WWII.]

Good poem. Isn't that what poetry is about, "sowing words to reap a harvest"? Keep sowing!

Karilea,

So many good things packed into this write. I love it from start to finish. But mostly what I love is the character it reflects. A woman of integrity and heart.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
