"Worth Under Harlequin Cloth"

Again. He's open.

Then writes - while wallowing in strives for lucidity.
An attempted mess to wipe this clear.
The handed down, finger smudged, life in mirror.

He views the tent in cloth of harlequin diamond.
Formed around his skeleton, flesh, and soul by nail.
The crowd gathers to gaze on the many splendors within.

He displayed great feats both magical and eloquent.
Made their eyes wide and smile’s greater.
So daring then, a gentleman, a gem spotlight lit.

To his future self, this warning not threat.
Accolades fade and the night’s applause dulls.
The years pass, the spark dims, and this act resolves.

To his future self, this warning not threat.
Beware the quick disrespect and knee jerk blasphemy.
Your genuine partner gone - no choice but to rekindle false harmony.

He sighs at father’s kindness - and word, “unique”.
And the talks of destiny by mother, but his, only if alone.
Loving and polite, but their misinformed. He's more, than is shown.

Wow... he dazzles once more. The cliché in fruition?
Can it be the act of self pity so high in the air? It can’t be.
The audience has gone.   -   Alone.   -   Laughing in his own company.

Then,
Out of nowhere,
One faint glint,
One tinniest of sparks,
Ignites accord. This time to burn the memories clean.
The flame burns white and kindled the harlequin cloth to crisps.
The ties that bound now snap.
And the nails hold not.

He bites his tongue and performs pretend.
But this severs and seals his disgust in juice.

He’s closed... Again.

(sigh) This is such a poignant and powerful debut, sweet friend, this sure impacted me as a reader to wonder how many layers of veils we tend to wear and how thick they can be and when we really know ones true complexity! This is powerful, sweet friend, I love it! Welcome to Passions, sweet friend, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your wonderful words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This is really very, very good!

A superb write, indeed!

Your first post, but I doubt this is your first poem.

If this is representative of your pennings, I'd wish to read more...thanks,

This is a very impressive entrance here.

I admit, there are so many allusions I can find, I found myself spinning, but then I thought of the Harlequin Cloth reference, and nodded, smiled and thought, "touche'".

Welcome to Passions!

I too, look forward to reading more of your work!

As Wranx and others have said,
perhaps your first post here,
but scarcely your first poem.  Welcome to Passions.
Count me as one in a long line of "impatient readers",
as I am looking forward to your next post!

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?
