~*~

Daddy, don't hit me!
Don't make me cry!
Mommy, please help me!
I don't wanna die!

Mommy, don't leave me!
Can I come too?
Do I deserve this?
What did I do?

***

Next day the headlines,
Said, "Young Girl Found Dead",
No parents to miss her,
Such horror and dread.

How could this happen?
Were there no signs?
Or were we too busy
In these self-absorbed times.

~*~

This is not in reference to any specific case but is representative of some of the horrific crimes that have been perpetrated against children.

Yes Earth Angel, the worst of the worst...

The unconscionable misuse of a parent’s trust...

A mortal sin, so unfathomable, it belies all reasoning...

A very disturbing and important part of humanity...

Richy ~

I am so sick at heart at the horrific acts that have been perpetrated against the children of our "society".

wow...that was very good.  I liked how you chose to use "wanna" instead of "want to", it made it sound like it was really the child talking. A sad topic here but you got the message across. I liked it.

Linda,

Very well written and heartbreaking.

You just have to wonder why? What manner of monster fathers, and mothers, too, could do this to children....
Hugs, Pat

Joe ~

When I write sad or painful poems, they actually make me experience (or re-experience!) those emotions. That is why I much prefer to write happy poems!

Pat ~

Writing this poem literally made me sick to my stomach. A little girl's dismembered body was recently discovered and it has brought to mind the plight of another little girl whose father murdered her and then dismembered her body.

I have to write something happy now or I'll be sick all night!

Warm hugs,
Linda

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Linda, this is so very heartbreaking, sweet friend, no child should EVER be left alone and whoever does let their children alone should be punished and left alone themselves and then if they have any souls at all they will cry in shame relating to the isolation they caused them! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, I send angel hugs out to every child in hope they are loved, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Earth Angel, this is so sad but I think has went on for years we are even when I was growing up but it stayed behind closed doors then

Real friends celebrate in who we are and have faith in all that we can become
Lots of Love

With what happened to Holly Jones this touches home here in Toronto. My cousin Veronica is a beautiful little girl and I cried at the thought...I know this kind of thing has always happened but I don't know..I hate this world..how? Why? Her mother read her poetry at a vigil today. I'm sorry I'm gonna go crawl under my bed now..

The abuse of the innocents is indeed intolerable. But I fear, it IS tolerated.

Does this happen with more frequency, or are we just "blessed" by our modern communications?

Yes, I too, am sickened whenever I read of this.

Now it's time for you to write yourself happy!

Earth Angel...A sad commentary on what happens in all too many cases. Abuse...in no matter what form, whether it be physical or mental, should never be a part of a child's memories. I understand where you are coming from. I had an abusive stepfather. The abuse was more mental/emotional than physical; but it hurt every bit as much. Thank you for writing this poignant poem. ***Ivy Rose

haunting and to think the ones who survive their traumatic childhood go on to be adults,
maybe a little broken up but still somewhat human.  well penned and thoughtfully done.

Any crimes against children saddens my heart and sickens my soul...Sometimes I just want to shut the world out! --but that doesn't help matters and it doesn't do me any good either!

Thank you for commenting.

It's definitely a heartfelt poem .... but are Daddy's getting a bad rap?? We have seen of late that Daddys are not the only people who hurt little ones ...... not meaning to be oversensitive .....but the media has removed Dads from the family landscape (count Dads in commercials sometime)and THIS Daddy LOVES his little girl and would skin anyone who hurt her!

Oh, no! I do not want to give father's a bad wrap! But some time ago a father had dismembered his own daughter and the stepmother was an accessory.

Recently another little girl was abducted and her family was devasted when her dismembered body was discovered. I am haunted by these tragic, horrifically evil crimes against two innocent girls.

Peace & Light & the love of children,
Earth Angel

I thought that the title in itself was a warning for readers beware! As you well know, I am not a macabre person, but I felt moved to write this one! I'm glad that it is falling back now, because I don't like this post myself! It makes me sick!--Literally!

Warm hugs,
EA
