IF

If I ever leave you in this
world all by your self
I want for you to read this poem
I kept high on a shelf

If I can never touch your face
or hear your lovely voice
I hope your life is always filled
with happiness and joy

I tried so hard to find the words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How much I always cared for you
in everything you did
I wish I told you more of all
the feelings that I hid

I’m sorry for the times I ever
caused you to be stressed
With all the love I felt from you
I know that I was blessed

I hope you know the problems
that we had were all my own
I’m sorry living with me
made you feel so all alone

I want for you to know that
when you call me I’ll be there
It doesn’t matter if your really
happy or your scared

Just know that I am holding you
whenever you have fear
And that I’ll always be there
every time you cry a tear

I wish that I could bottle up
your laughter in a vial
I’d pour it out into the wind
and make the whole world smile

I wish that I could find the color
trapped within your eyes
I’d toss it up into the air
and paint a whole new sky

I wish that I could capture your
illuminating glow
The effervescence of your smile
could lift those feeling low

I wish that I could find the tune
you hear when angels fly
I’d sing it nightly, in your ear
until you softly cried

If god forbid the world should end
in one big global crime
Our spirit’s still, would hold
each other till the end of time

And even if the windows
to our souls both fell apart
The love we have, would still unlock
the doors to each our hearts

So when you see a butterfly
or smell a pretty rose?
It’s just me getting close to you
so I can kiss your nose

I tried to find some special words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How truly I adore and worship
everything you do
If I could only find the words
I’d give them all to you

Ah, Richy, you just did find the words.
Now it's up to her to listen and reply.
Peace.
What a gentle soft pleading cry.

"IF" I were to receive a poem like that, I'd love him forevermore for I would have found someone whose heart beats as my own...

Truly a gift from your soul to hers.

Warm hugs,
EA

How adoringly wonderful...
this is a delightful poetic heartspill.
Lovely poet sir...well done.

You're the best I've ever felt ...
it's so wrong not to be with you.
It's getting harder to stay away,
it stops my heart just to be with you.

Richy,

these are honest and sincere thoughts of a
humble man.  A treasure.

And yes,  so many write and it is very
difficult to read all that others write.

Happy to see you here at Passions,  and I
hope a dear lady gets to read this,  it is
a beautiful poem.

Of all the Ifs that are out there
none could ever thus compare
to this IF you've left for her
on a shelf, so self-assured....

Thank you Richy!

Ah, Richy, how absolutely precious.

So heartfelt....oh sigh...what a gift this kind of loving heart would be.

I especially liked the parts which Janet highlighted. Very original and creative...

Enjoyed,

Hugs, Pat

Simply enchanting.  You speak from the heart here.  I'd like to imagine her pulling this poem from the shelf, unfolding the page, and after reading the first stanza, she is entranced.  She sits down of the sofa by an open window where the drapes dance in the spring breeze.  She feels so many emotions, as tears stream down her flushed cheeks.  And when she's finished reading the verse, she goes back to the beginning to relive and savor your love.

There goes that imagination of mine...
But isn't that the poet's nature.

Very beautiful, Richy.

Thank You BluesSerenade, from someone who writes so passionately, your wonderful comments always mean a lot to me...

We may separate from each other in body and mind... but never in the spirit, of love...

Thanks again!

Words unsaid,
Love unshared,
Opportunities lost,
Regrets gained.

Were we but able to relive, reshape, our lives.

Well expressed.

I think you have the words...this beauiful piece of heart poem shows that.  I don't think I've read you before, so allow me to welcome you to Passions.
