There you sit upon a special shelf
Designed and built just for yourself
You light up when I open your door
You are a dream! Who could ask for more?

Little boxes in red and blue
Filled with goodies, are placed in you
Your glass plate spins slowly around
Your buzzing song is a soothing sound

No longer do I chop and grate
To get my food from recipe to plate
Where were you when I stood and stirred
While blender blended and chopper whirred?

do you know what have you done
You made all my cooking fast and fun
You give so much, I wish I’d have known
With you I’d have so much more time alone

cute write,  electronic marvels always amaze,

So - How come every microwave has different directions?... It takes a rocket scientist to figure out how to make them work if you lose the little book that goes with them... This is great, PdV - You do know how to nuke up a fine poetic plate...

Just a note, some free advice,
(You must admit, a perfect price)
Don't dry your socks or underwear,
In your microwave, or you might swear,
At least I did, before they came,
(the firemen) who doused the flame.
Please don't feel, too badly for me,
At least with the firemen, some company!!!

I realize, things could be worse,
You might up and read this verse.
But I liked yours, it brought a grin,
In a poetic race, I'd call it a win.

Thank you all! I think I was trying to say that although I now have more free time, I'm still spending it alone! If only my Microwave was a man!

Most men ARE like microwaves, press the right buttons and in 2 minutes we're done!

PdV!  You slay me lady!  Although I feel for you being alone, if it means we get more of you here, I cannot help but to be a little glad for it.  Selfish ain't I?

LOL  I love this, Sharon. And, the replies are delightful, too. By the way, I do love my microwave. It comes in handy a lot of times.

Hope you don't have to keep being lonely for very long, either.
Hugs,
Ethel

Into the cavern
that opened so easily
I plopped a bag
hoped it would not
cook greasely

the spin of your table
the whir of your fan
played to the sounds
that someplaces ban

In ending your cycle
with a sharp little ding
it was popcorn for all
who know how to use this
darned simple thing

Now that was cute and trust me I would give up my kids before my microwave!  I get the part about about having more time but still being alone too, that really sucks!  Wish there was a manual on "How To Get A Life" too.

This is adorable. If your microwave was a man, it would leave it's underwear in the living room, take the remote and never give it back, and make rude noises when your friends come over. It would NOT be a labor-saving device, so be grateful.

I was wondering if anyone would really notice the last lines. . . you should have kept it a secret for a little while longer. . .

great work here. . .now, how about a whole series dedicated to kitchen appliances??

(sigh) I love microwaves too, except I am not fond of them TV dinners, Stouffers, Sara Lee, whatever...need a nice home-cooked meal! (big hugggsssssss) What a great invention it is, now to heat up some minestrone, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I once heard:
men are like microwaves
women are like crockpots

sadly - I dont think they were referring to the convenience & helpfulness of men - lol

what a cool right - I really enjoyed it

Wow. I trotted right through this little ditty, enjoying the fun nature of it...and then tripped over a big root in that last line. I love poetry like that...you suprised me and I was so not ready for it. And the nature of the suprise was so strong and meaninful...and it actually made me feel a bit teary. This is amazing...not what I thought I'd find at all. Well done. ~DW~
