A Thunderstorm in Spring...

In towering spires roll billowed clouds,
…across the Kansas plain,
Foretelling farmers in their fields,
…beware, comes soon the rain,
A brooding silence cloaks sultry balm,
…in wait of pending storm,
Marauding cumulonimbus,
…advance in threatening form,
Then gust of wind sweeps away the calm,
…commences lightning’s thrust,
Rumbling, roaring, high heavens shaking,
…with force of sky’s combust,
As the majesty of welkin’s humbling,
…lets loose on earth below,
Upon the farmer and his crops,
…they drink of cloud’s bestow.
While a sodden land awaits the sun,
…to signal storm’s defeat,
A farmer stands in silent gaze,
…on fields of golden wheat.

This is wonderful Tim. Oh, sometimes the golden wheat is ruined by a storm. A farmer's gaze holds trust, worry or gratitude.
I enjoyed this much.

trust, worry and gratitude... that pretty well sums it up, you have to trust the rain will come, worry the hail doesn't destroy your crop, and have gratitude for the harvest.

Listening to every heart

I have seen the farmer in his stance,
as he watched the clouds high dance
his heart in throat as rose the prayer
to tend his fields, of those in care,
I've been the worker at the fence
stretching wire beyond my sense
watched the thunder roil the skies
heard the whippoorwill in cry
and stood to see that all must flee,
I have stood along with thee.
