Footsteps echo around the room
Charred remnants are the devil’s perfume
Broken windows with shards of glass
Hang defiant in the blackened sash
Memories gone won’t return soon.
Rusty coils amid the blackness
What were few possessions are less
Burnt out ceiling lets in night air
For an unforgiving moon to stare
Peeking in the realm of the hopeless.
Footsteps die in leaving the room
Silence beyond any life or gloom
Nothing left and none demanding
Fragile ash that’s barely standing
To become another urban tomb.

I always feel in your writing I am standing around a corner somewhere by where you live, and doing character studies somehow. This was another one of those times, that you paint me a picture so very well.
