Spring is Speaking Frigid fingers of winter, release your grip Cling no longer to the earth, for your season is passing And your final howl of glory is whistling In the north winds You bow before me and kiss my hand As you slowly depart In reverence to the mother of Autumn’s child The hour has come for me to melt the icy crust you left behind, The frozen pond and stream And the solid soil of your keeping In which you harbored the seeds of life And made steadfast the roots of other seasons To me you pass this treasure of life Now cushioned in the soft spongy carpet of wetness Marked by hoof and paw and trails of worms You have left safe in my womb the fertile seeds Of Autumn To which I now give birth And nurture with wetness from the heavens And warmth of my breast With a soft sigh and A balmy breath of hope and expectation I spread my translucent petalsof pastel tinges Along the banks of laden streams, and forest fringes Where polka dot limbs are about to burst with green And the delicate spattering of dogwood laces the hillside And apple blossoms dance in the wind And oh, how fast my seedlings grow From bulb and pod and bud To shady elm and marigold Mountain laurel and fern And hemlock hedges Oh, joyful days of summer, my sister of seasons My part is done , my days are over, and I hand to you, The season of pleasure, The red of poppy, the yellow of warbler wing And a thousand shades of green Elizabeth Santos |

Well now, wearing your Spring bonnet are you? Looks darn good on you too I might add, and don't forget to send your poem about freedom of speech to Karilea (a reminder) and I will keep reminding you until you do it too |

Yes, Liz, your "Spring Bonnet" does look good on you. Like someone else said, I knew before I looked at this poem with your name, that it would be beautiful. Any poetry of yours I have ever read was, no matter what the subject. I loved it all, but this ending was really pretty..... Oh, joyful days of summer, my sister of seasons My part is done , my days are over, and I hand to you, The season of pleasure, The red of poppy, the yellow of warbler wing And a thousand shades of green Thanks, my friend. Hugs, Ethel |

Ahh, Liz. Spring is now 'screaming' in this area! Once my lilacs bud, that makes it official. Loved this ... hugs, Marti Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. A.Einstein |

(smiles) Oh Elizabeth, this is scintillating, sweet friend, cherry blossoms and crabapples when they bud with their gorgeous pink flowers are when it is officially spring in my point of view and they have budded! (kiss on cheek) Yay, this is beautiful, sweet friend, so paint your world with the warbler and the shades of green, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |
