(Author's note: This was an assignment for a poetry class at a college where I teach. Tell a story from long ago without adjectives or adverbs. Ken) Adventure! I sat on the grass in the front of my home and heard my mom caution me not to go roam. Her counsel went drifting right out of my head, But soon I would pay and be sent off to bed. My friend, who was Darrel, and lived near the park, And I took his bike for a ride as a lark. We wandered and roved o’er the town of our birth, And found ourselves playing in the sun on the earth. Our stomach’s were grumbling; I looked at a clock and stared at the time which displayed at the dock. The words of my mother came back to my ear. I knew that my trek would soon impact my rear. With worry and fright, she had sought high and low Conferring with neighbors who looked to and fro. We simply had been in the city downtown ’Twas only three miles and yet such a frown! For we were but seven that day long ago When sunshine and spirit let us forget “NO” Yet smiles were radiant when we appeared home But mostly I ‘member being seated on foam. lol, this is adorable. My mom was very protective of me when I was little, I would run off just as you did and she would give the "Iam angry because I was worried" speech. hehe nicely done! ~Talia |

LOL! Ken I giggled when I read this and it flooded me with a memory of my son, Jason. When he was in the 4rd grade, 9 years old, he and several of his friends rode the commuter bus into Boston, 10 miles, just to see what it would be like! They got off, walked around Tower Records, got back on the next bus out of Boston and came home. Proud as peacocks they were. Meanwhile, there were mothers who were frantic not knowing where they were!! It is a day 'we' will never forget! Thanks for the memory; I think...Marti Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. A.Einstein |

---and I believe that the adventurous spirit of the boy that you were, is alive and well in the man that you now are! Enjoyed the peak into your earlier days. Luvin' hugs, EA |
