An Evening Spent I read you, from beginning to end. A time when she meant much to you and as the words grew so did the mention of love. A forever dream, towering in silence. I could see the transformation and could feel what was never there for me. A leisurely undertaking of rhyming words, a loss in wonderings of never heards. It was all there in front of me, where I couldn't help but see. Wondering why it could never be. I just scolded myself and drank some tea. Over and over those words of love, a time before, a tenderness not saved for me. Over and over, rhymed poetry. I read and I read until darkness fell, knowing now what was show and tell, except for me, never meant to be. Those loving words always meant for she. A warmth that I would never know. A place where I could never go. There it was so plain to see. The love was hers, not meant for me. M "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less." (Will Moss) [This message has been edited by nakdthoughts (05-05-2003 08:19 PM).] |

Maureen, what a touching and tragic poem. I so understand, and it hurts just this much. Hugs Sandra |

Thank you Sandra, eventually it will only be an ache and then will be just a memory. Nice to see you here. hugs, M Bill, not really, but I always enjoy your warmth of words. Thank you Chris, for stopping by. Dixie, sad must be my middle name right now. M CountryGal, thank you for stopping to read and respond. And if I have forgotten to welcome you... I've found that we have to put the memories away too. . . lest they hurt again at times. . . this is excellent. . . such melancholy. . . it speaks to me. . . great work. . . ------------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |
