Life, revisited

Oh, this was so long ago,
farther away
than even I can imagine…

yet…yet…

who is it there,
I see someone lying on parquet floor,
slender, spare, so way back then,
glowing in sun’s share,
sitting for another’s children…

sun sinking slow in summer’s flow,
lower, gads, that’s me,
gathering up
shadows growing long in stride,

typical of the then time
which was changing
rapidly,

writing in longer hand of thought,
perhaps, insipidly?

~*~

Life

A way to live,
a place to live in,
somewhere in any place.
Everywhere you go, it’s there,
on the ground, in the sea, or air.
Some people want to settle down,
and some of them, travel around.
Leaving others behind,
leaving them in a past.
Where life tried, but could never last.
People living, others dying,
some are being born.
Some at night, some in day
some in early morn.
Yet, they have to pay.
Young people, together,
growing up ~ growing old ~
they have a story to unfold
Many have a story of tarnished gold.
Life is fair to many,
yet it is so cruel
‘cause many have gone against
our only Golden Rules.
And yet, that’s life.

(c)1968

~*~

The cursive, flowing, the circles and
curves, showing, in childishness…
rowing upwards against the stream…

but here it was, the inborn naïve,
facts and fancy, of “will-not grieve,”
the come and go of thoughts
still now in flow,
just grown through a
less grinding sieve…

I held this back, too shy to say
I was naïve this very day…
and still in shy,
now here let you peek,
throw stones if you shall,
upon this weak…
for this was me, there and then,
and this is me, for the ken
of where this ruled,
so ruled my heart,

and from these facts,
I’ve yet to part.

Life, revisited.

More than enough, Martie...I think it was the "tarnished gold" that got ya!

Yes, dear, you understand...

but then, you always have!

Karilea:

this is just what I needed to read

amazingly heartwrenching
bittersweet for that person
who once was and is now

either way . . . you shine

Yanno,  I look at a picture of me from 1980,   and there have been so many miles
that have heaped on this face in 23 years..

Astounding at times...

I have always contended that behind the eyes of an elderly person is a child,
asking to be released.....

I think the same applies to middle aged ones
too....wanna join me at the playground?

Excellent write KJ...

circles and spirals, you paint them both so vividly with your words.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
