somebody's dungeon

0 posted 2003-02-17 04:26 PM

A soft moment perhaps of reflect
is what I want, not introspect,
too much time spent in the mind
can sometimes be a bit unkind.

Let me light upon simple thought
in treasured times let me be caught,
within a dream of loving embrace
where plays a smile upon his face.

Joyous events of past now see
just there on the edge of history,
don't show the plot or motive clear
it's the covert reasoning I fear.

I plead with mind, remembrance, yes
but please, the facts a little less,
faded pictures with a smile perceived
this is all I wish to see.

Some might say a selfish request
yet, I need a time of mind at rest
the horror stays, it's always there
I need one moment sans despair.

(big hugggssssssss) The inner-peace always begins with you, dearest friend, believe and love yourself always and then the healing process begins, where the tears become crystals and joys song will mutter through your heart like a songbird! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, you always write with such honest emotion, I send many angel hugs of comfort out to you, you have my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sorry for the here and now as it appears in your poem, but I do agree that reflection is a very good thing.  Reflection, in my opinion, is a wonderful place in which to take a retreat without paying a whole lot of money or having to travel in reality any great distance. As far as expression and form, this is one great poem. Good job.

This is such a deep poem. I think that trying to figure out the mind is a very hard thing to do. However a little self reflection is good for the soul. I like this poem

Dawn, I know sometimes all we ask is for some time spent in soft reflection. But, more often than not, too much time is spent in recollect of things we wish we could forget. Thanks for reading.

What makes this poem such an enjoyable (technically) and enlightening (emotionally)
experience for me is the very good balance you achieved in the tone of it between "pleading" and "request". Another elegant feature was the way you sustained such a good rhyming scheme. Overall, the poem, through its tone and style, produces just the right degree of evocation to lay claim to the elusive element, universality. It gets my vote, too.
