There was a girl who wanted to sing
to hear her voice from on stage ring
a pure, sweet, innocent child
with calm green eyes and a heart still wild

she had a voice, soft as the wind
sheer talent, straight from within
she was only sixteen, still just a kid
yet contractors, for her voice bid

she finally got her chance one night
an audition, on stage, she felt no fright
she won it easy, clean and clear
they signed her up, then and there

driving home, feeling elated,
no one knew what was fated,
a terrible tragedy happened that night
death struck out with all its might

it claimed another innocent
so much future left unspent
her family, torn with pain
a quiet funeral in the rain

yet shes not gone, no way no how
she simply an angel, with god now
the angel with the most beautiful voice
we hear her sing, and we rejoice

shes gone from us but still she sings
no stage, but her voice rings
in our lives and in our hearts,
where one joy ends, another starts

One in a sea of millions has the power to change the world...

such a heart-aching story.
Told with beauty

Always, Alyssa

- And so it was that time stood still -

It's sad, but I find it to be beautiful at the same time. I'm not one for ABAB rymes, but I do like this one. Good job!

This one has a charm which, though tinged with sadness, concludes with a positive tone.
It's a fine tribute to a young life blessed with potential, but tragically terminated too soon. I feel a measure of grieving for that through the simple artistry of this poem.

I was never good with the rhyming thing. But I can see that you are. This poem was a sad but yet it brought light. [If that makes any sense]

Sorry, that was me [rapturedmist] that wrote the post...not song for serenity.
