THE UNINVITED

In the quiet of my nights,
worries, ideas, fantasies, fears,
tumbling, one atop the other,
intrude upon the half-world
'twixt my reality and dreams.
Like peevish holiday shoppers,
they jostle and press forward,
each seeking attention.
Neither asleep nor awake,
with sensibilities stunted,
I succumb to the thoughts
that cascade through my mind.
I can but yearn for the closure
of night,
the blessed relief of the day's
first light.

Hi and welcome to Passions. I liked this very much, good writing and expression.

My husband often has nights like this!
