In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2003-02-15 08:27 PM

Paint the sky with petals
of a thousand flowers
trace the star-cast shadows

that I could breathe again
upon     earth:

I fell into darkness
      into your amber midnights
your naked hope    laying beside
me

Whispers fell upon curves of
   the moon
soft yields in silence

echoing how winter feels
    when snow falls
gentle dancers

touching the world
   of my eyes

{you loved winter, the
     ice storms}

I sometimes failed
     to cross the silent
borders of your thoughts

I, the lover, counting
   anxious hours of loss--
veiled light, bronze   colors
glitter of unnamed stars

moving my   lips skyward

{I am where I need to be}   an
angel between worlds  in endless water
pool of tender blue

             how my dreams arrive:

I fell for hours
    splashing into stars

I sing to life
To it's tragic beauty
To pain and strife
Let all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I lived through it all

When, poet of softness, will you come out with your own book?  Very well done.  Almost like reading a cloud.

This is breathtaking... especially the last two lines, that left me in a state of amazement, hungry for more, so I read this two or three more times.     I really, really like this poem.  You must have somehow stood right there in that moment you captured and written it all on your invisible notepad with your invisible pen, 'cause I can't imagine how your memory could bring that moment back so clearly.

Just amazing.  This earns my vote.
