Poem: The Long Jiang River. |

Memories of the Long Jiang River flow easily through my mind like the slow motion replay of a treasured film. Images of her fall free like a waterfall from the edge of my knowing to the reservoir containing all important symbols of my life. There she is, standing by a boulder on the banks of the Long Jiang River; in the background locals do the family wash, the river swiftly carries swirling suds away. My mind’s eye zooms in on her: Beautiful, fragile, wondrously bathed in a mystic smile that makes the waters glitter with a frenzy of sparkling beams. We slowly cross the river in a ferry powered by two women with oars. We share the backdrop of surreal limestone peaks with fisherfolk on Chinese river boats. Something else we share: flooding emotions, desperate realization that soon we must part at the Long Jiang River, and even worse, she must stay with her river; I must go to mine. |

I liked the premise of this one: how people make striking connections in spite of everything...it's precisely incidents like these that make me believe in fate so much... is she a local or a foreigner, may i ask? |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Patrick, this is beautiful, sweet friend, the ending is sad but know that every river has a confluence and every river connects to the ocean in life and in time love will make its course to you again! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Patrick, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Beautiful! I wonder how many said goodbye at one river or another? I vote for you and for them as well. To be hugged by a friend is wealth beyond words. [This message has been edited by Mysteria (04-08-2003 03:30 PM).] |

Loved this one, hope it makes it into the book. Perhaps these two hearts will yet find a way to make those two rivers merge into one? BTW, I'm keeping this one in my library. |
