Insanity

By Peter J Marcroft

I lie alone, counting the soft white bricks of my cell,
Watching all areas, I keep hold of my power,
Contrary to belief, inside here is not a hell,
More like a room, where forbidden thoughts flower.

What I was is nothing more than a distant past,
Before my mind played tricks and I saw them all,
Sanity fades, like life it cannot last,
So I readied myself, to answer their call.

Then fame found me, and I was adored by men in white,
How was I to know their interest was shallow?
Just as I began to think that my star shone bright,
I got abandoned here, like a field left fallow.

Yet I am safe here, while the world sells its soul
To greedy corporations, and surrender to conformity,
I smile as I rot away, down in my hole,
While the world out there, is reduced to lunacy.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Peter, it is very horrifying, I don't understand too how the world wants everyone to be uniform, and surrender what makes us unique, when that only makes us seem like a versimilitude of what God wanted us to be! (sad sigh) Then people just keep merging until finally there is no reason to go on and things seem so obfuscating, you touch on this real insanity ever so well, this is a poignant and great read, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Peter, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Peter, the title reached out and grabbed me, as I think most artistic people are a bit on the insane side!! I love the way you opened up the darker side of human nature, and presented it for thought. Life isn't always roses and sunshine....great write.

Life's a real bugger, isn't it?  I think this is more skillfully written than your other, Peter.  This one should definitely see the pages of Reflections; my vote is cast.

Every coin does have its dark side and you have illustrated that very well. Those who know me, wonder how I manage to stay more on the bright side, when I have experienced more trials and tribulations in this lifetime, than many will experience in several! I suppose the answer for me is simple--light banishes the dark and brings joy back into my life. Happy begets happy!--and the converse is also true!
At difficult and tragic times, my writing has been dark, but that is not a place where I would like to dwell. Those poems provide a release of any brooding negativity that may be held deep inside me, but once those feelings are gone, I welcome the sun back into my days!
I appreciate your openness and your fine writing of the darker days which we all experience from time to time.

Warm hugs to warm up those days of night,
EA

Excellent lines and a pointed question.
Enjoyed! *s

Thanks to all of you who have read and enjoyed this piece, I don't need to explain it any further as you have all figured it out, but I am glad you read, you responded or you voted.  Without you all, the poetry is meaningless

You certainly opened up the dark side of humanity, and did it in an excellent write.  Well done indeed.

Dark thoughts wonderfully expressed. Very nicely done!

A very different poem than what I've read thus far, but one with much truth in it. Great job!
