Riotous glory in springtime blooming,
Sweet perfumed air at end of May,
Violet hues in crowns of glory,
Shimmering in warm sun of day.

Flooding memories of grandma's garden,
Fragrant lilacs of every hue,
Pinks and whites and pale yellows,
And royal purples all on revue.

Oh, you absolutely must "experience" lilacs in bloom!--their fresh, sweet fragrance and their incredible beauty are simply divine!
I bury my face into the bushes and breathe in their heavenly scent--it is somewhat of a spiritual experience for me--food for my soul!

Warm hugs,

Yes, indeed they are! I especially love the deep violet lilacs. I am like a little girl waiting for Christmas! Nearing the time for the lilacs to bloom, I am checking the buds every day--waiting in anticipation for this gift of Spring...

Linda there is nothing that brings back memories of my dear grammy than to smell lilacs. She wore a perfume that she called lilac water.

I enjoyed this so much and was glad to be able to vote for it.

Hugs, Marti

This needs a scratch and sniff edit *L*
I had a bush that got over 10 ft tall and about 6 ft in diameter...its branches would cascade down with the weight of all the flowers....On a breezy day you could smell it from down the street...
I hated to move away from that beauty.
See all the wonderful memories your stirring with this lovely vignette

Love this. My grandfather had a lilac tree nnd no matter how much he tended it, although the green was quite lush, it never bloomed. He'd tell grandma "if it doesn't bloom next year it will have to go, but of course he never did get rid of it.  It bloomed for the first time about three months after he passed away. I certainly voted on this.
