Waning moon like scimitar
     stabbing at the dark
Shards of light shining afar
     uplifting heavens ark

And night creeps by like dragons smoke
until the hour that it will stroke
the time for morning to awake
in darkness 'til the dawning break

Dying soon the eyeing eve
     watching Earth revolve
Spying 'til the stars must leave
     no mystery to solve

and night creeps by with raging ease
   escaping land and tempting seas
For Waning Moon still holds the keys
to tidal ebb and flowing breeze, after all...
the moon is not made up of cheese

Are you saying that the moon is not made up of cheese?!? The next thing you'll be telling me is that there isn't an Easter Bunny!

Great write!

Thank you all for your appreciation.I'll never forget the balmy Summer night when I wrote this on my friend John's front steps. The words just flew into my head as I stared up at a beautiful crecent moon. There
are few things as beautiful and mysterious.
