![]() You looked forward to being a mother But your road was a difficult one Your days turned dark and cloudy As you struggled to find the sun There was no book of instructions So much was expected of you You had to be your own teacher No one could tell you what to do You suffered alone in silence So was the depth of your despair You believed you were a failure Far into space you would stare You cried out in the darkness But there was no one who could hear You carried the weight of the world Such a burden was your fear All alone you fought your demons You world was in trouble and strife But who could possibly have known That you would take your own life? * * * This was based on a true story about a young mother who found the pressures of motherhood too great and suffered from post natal depression.Despite the efforts of her husband to get the help she needed, she killed herself and her two young children. Depression is a very real illness and unfortunately the attitude of many is that the sufferer should just "get over it" but it is not that simple. We need a better understanding and more compassion should be shown towards those who suffer before they take their life into their own hands. I am in motion |

A great way to get the message across and very well written. It's one to think on for sure. My perspective of me is different, |

Yes, Sue, This is a very sad situation, but you told of it in a very excellent and compassionate way. Thank you...... ![]() "Love makes the world go around" |

Very touching, what you have written. My brother committed suicide at thirty-one. You are correct in telling someone 'get over it' is not the answer. I was living out of state and was broken hearted when I received the call. I loved and still love, Paul, very much. Your writing sounds like words of a very caring, and wise person. Hugs. |

Your angel image looks pensive and sad - so right with your poem. I had a very young cousin who committed suicide too (just barely in his teens) and I can still remember the tragic feelings the family went through. |

Sue, such a sad tale of a situation far too common in our world. Even in this day of modern medicine, depression is rampant, especially post natal when a woman's hormones are running amuck. There is no 'just get over it', but there is help from a doctor. Thank you for writing about a very important subject. Hugs, Marti |

A tender, sad, truthful write. Just get over it....she did, but not in the kindest way. I remember hearing these words as a child "Suffer the litttle children." I've always questionned the justice of that one line. |

Oh Sue, thanks for sharing...sad as is it. It's a definate problem. The folks at the hospital told my husband that he should not leave me alone with the baby for six weeks...because of that depression. I could not have imagined hurting my daughter or myself, and I thought they were crazy. But they saw signs from me and were just being careful. |

Sue: Such a sensitive write and of course, this happens frequently. Always so sad and one wonders what could have been done to change things. Betty Lou Hebert |

I am currently recovering from a psychiatric hospitalization and constantly seek help to find will to live. My two young sons are what keep me going but it is hard. I'm sorry you lost your friend but you very caringly appreciate that it was not her fault. you write beautifully |

I thought it was beautiful, though I feel no remorse for someone that would kill their own children. I don't care how depressed they are, as I myself have walked that road a few times as well(though I always turn around, haha) |

wow, there are no words to express this too often, misunderstood and not spoken enough about tragedy, but I know of it; it happened in my neighborhood |
