As we grow older,
What's important seems to change,
It's not the money or material things,
They become quite plain.

I'd love to be a window,
Across from a day care school,
Watching kids play out life,
Just doing the things kids do.

Just being a simple window,
Watching the day go bye
Skyscrapers going upwards,
Ruining the view of the sky.

Hey look! Over there,
Little girls of peaches and cream,
Having a tea party setting,
And all of their grown up dreams.

Across the street in their "real" world,
Little boys are running and winning,
Venturing out of their protective backyards,
Little lives just now beginning.

See the old oak right out front?
The wind bends back and forth,
And look what it does to the pond over yonder,
The ripples-white caps into shore.

Yep, a window's what I wish I was,
Watching the world go bye,
No worries or problems with just one care;
To get "Windexed" to clear my eyes.

Oh Toe, I'm impressed greatly...such a thought-provoking write. I guess you have to get some serious ones out now and then, huh?

Toe,

Smiling here. You just have to have at least one silly line. This is well written and I enjoy the serious side of you as much as the funny.

Great write. Hugs, Pat

Hi Toe

Many people have windows, but only a special few, see.  You are one of the special few.

Mr. Toe, I love it when you let your Southern gentleman side show....but I also love it when you let your funny side show, too.
Thank you, dear friend, for being YOU !!!!

Oh dear Mr. Toe, what a fabulous write. I could see so much out your clean window and I enjoyed the views. Just bring me a rocker and a cup of tea and I'll sit here forever ...

Hugs, Marti

Toe - love this. I would really like to be a tree outside of you - the window. Oh, maybe that would block your view, so since I am quite short anyway, umm...I can be a little globe cedar. That way I can see the world go by along with you. Great write. Chris

Thank you for the reminder... I guess I have had the shades drawn for to long.

Life seemed much easier when we were younger, If only I knew then what I know now... I would have chosen not to grow up!!!!

A fine write Sir Toe... though I believe your true nature would find you looking in rather than looking out.
