A work written by me, for a special friend a while back, for all his inspiration. You know who you are!

The Singing Sparrow

Upon the branch of life sits he,
And sings a lovely melody.
To brighten days of those forlorn,
Or mend the hearts of lovers torn.
Sing little sparrow your song so sweet,
Tell of the Angel I'll someday meet.
From his branch there spread his wings,
And to my window cill where sparrow sings.
I watch in awe and comprehend,
The ballad of my faithful friend.
He tells of suns in distant skies,
And beauty unseen by my own eyes.
To my tearful face he brings a smile,
Please little friend do stay a while.
He spins around and to my sorrow,
He takes to the air until tomorrow.
So hear the flutter of his wings,
Within the air the sparrow sings.
