We all know the new color code. Today is an orange day. Orange has never been my favorite color, but I love to eat sweet juicy navel oranges and watch orange sunsets over the Pacific. Orange is a really troublesome word to rhyme, enough to make a would-be poet cringe. I think it contrasts quite well with blue, and the Denver Broncos think so too. Today is an orange day. Eat an orange a day and stay happy and healthy... unless of course you ingest the kind our government used in Viet Nam. Agent Orange. Have another orange today. Agent Orange has been linked to cancers, respiratory ailments, even Diabetes Mellitus type ll. Did you know that a government agency, the Bureau of Land Management used Agent Orange in May 1969 (accidentally of course) as an herbicide to control 'undesirable grasses' in Washoe County Nevada? The location is aptly named Massacre Lake, the BLM project was called "Operation Massacre." And our federal government still officially denies having used agent Orange domestically. (It took them until 1993 to decree a "presumption of causation" order, to allow Viet Nam vets to be treated for symptoms caused by this orange.) So have another orange today, courtesy of the loving government of the USA, the very one that wants you to believe they always have your best interests and survival at heart on this new Orange Day. Happy Valentine's Day. [This message has been edited by jade dragoness (02-13-2003 03:48 PM).] |
