Peer in dark mirror
And see the sights of myself
Reflect years and fears
In the deep lines of my face
I can not stare there
In the silver backed horror
That is far too real
And echoes my nightmares screams
In silent gazes
As I watch ages mar me
Lanced by harsh sun beams
Hiding in hazes
Avoiding the reflections
Of that dark mirror
Chancing just to see myself
With sharpen steel blades
To scrape yesterday away
An escape from fate
Before it can cast evil
From the cold eyes staring back
From cruel vanity
From present reality
That’s there within the mirror.

Step away, sir...
the coffee's on...
we'll quietly chat,
and discuss
the counting of wrinkles...

good write, as always...

This is realy good..... vanity, vanity
The mirror gives us a distorted picture... for all that is real and beautiful the mirror never noticed in the first place

Thank you, Sunshine
A please to see you enjoyed

Thank you, Zinsser,
I’ve been told my view in the mirror is distorted,
So I guess it a little bit of the minds eye also.
Glad you liked

Thank you, passing shadows,
For the kind words

you are wearing blinders
most of the time,
the mirror never lies,
but minds do
