Taste of February

The breezes taste of February
Smell of barren limbs
Tunes of early hours of dawn
Are February hymns

I can feel that earth is moving
Toward the sun of spring
Snows of yesterday are melting
Into crystal springs

I can feel my feet approaching
Corners yet unknown
Mornings tiptoe bright and swift
Upon a purple throne

Joy is somewhere to be found
In closeness to my heart
Love is ever present from
The ones who never part

Hope is served upon a tray
Of rounded silver beams
Fanning out from mountain crests
Into tomorrow’s dreams

Dusk aromas fill the lungs
As earth is turning round
Wooded hills are donned with
February’s golden crown

Nighttime falls upon us
But in shadows of the mind
Smells of melting earth bring on
A freshness right behind

Breezes taste of February
Thawing winter ground
Around an unknown corner
There are treasures to be found

'I can feel that earth is moving
Toward the sun of spring
Snows of yesterday are melting
Into crystal springs'

And not a snowflake too soon!

simply wonderful poem with every line exquisite, but these are my very favorite:

                                                        Snows of yesterday are melting
                                                            Into crystal springs

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
