Heartbeats and Handguns

In the days of old we fought for food and gold
Now the battle begins for dinausaur bones
While far off thrones keep us awake at night
Worried over fake threats and terrorist fights
Heartbeats and handguns
The dying light of a newborn sun
Where are your children at
While you work like a rat
Their in the streets smoking crack
Or at the mall gettin fat
A slap in the face to all those who died in their place
A disgrace to freedom
And all our forfathers dreaming
About homes
Community
What we could have become in our beautiful cities
While now we slip into something to pity
It ain't pretty
Heartbeats and handguns
The dying light of a new born sun
I had a daughter
Never gonna get the chance to have taught her
About rain
Wind
And water
Pray that all this ain't for nothing
There must be something
I'm running
Heartbeats and handguns
The dying light of a newborn sun
People screaming peace
Nobody listening
Except the poor and the free
Everybody else is too busy trying to grease
The system
Babylon
The cage that we rattle on
Waiting here to see what it is we'll be dying from
Heartbeats and handguns
The dying light of a newborn sun
Children in foreign lands
Waiting for the day they can say
They landed one of us
Another suicide bomber
Looking for Allah's trust
Just listen to the ground in the dust
You'll hear the sound
Here they come
Heartbeats and handguns
The last days
Of the dying light
Of a newborn sun

yes, very powerful.
I have a teacher who told is all there were so few problems we had to create our own.. some of these lines expressed that. And all of it, was sad.
Welcome to Pip, glad to have you.

Always, Alyssa

(big hugggsssssss) This is such a heartacing but powerfully well-written debut, sweet friend, my prayers go out to all the world to stay safe during this depressing time, God Bless You! Welcome to Passions, sweet friend, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your lovely words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Nothing to smile about here, except that we are lucky to have another day today to try to get it right. Powerfully written, intense imagery.

Welcome to Passions. We talk and write about many things here, one of them is this madness that surrounds us, threatening to tear the world apart in a split second.
I hope you also take time to smell some roses, the fragrant beauty of LOVE that overflows these pages. Enjoy the moments you have, and share them with your loved ones.
Namaste, and Peace to you.

May ripples of LOVE
become waves of PEACE
