Underneath
the ebb...and flow

beyond
the need...to know

remains the question

why?

Apart
from distance....and time

withstanding
reason....or rhyme

remains the unspoken

goodbye

You're not leaving are you?
This poses such a simple question
and the uncertainty that comes
without answers.

Beautiful, really!

I may be reading this one wrong, but I hear longing and kind of a sad acceptance.  Am I close?  Nice seeing you here, Susan. Hugs and

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Sea,

What a simple yet deeply thought provoking tribute to one of the most enigmatic words known to humanity.

PS For what it's worth, I certainly hope you're not going away from here!

Oh...this is beautiful.
It strikes as very Rumi like.
There is a message in our longing...as Rumi himself said - "This longing you express is the return message."
Once again....this is beautiful.

(Oh...and I am happy your not leaving!)

Beautiful poem. It brings back so many memories of times when I had to say goodbye, and worse, when I didn't have a chance to say goodbye.

Such a small word... But sometimes an unspoken goodbye can hurt so much...

Blessings,

Being "stuck" with you?  No, more like being blessed by your wonderful company.

Loved this. Sad and open to interpretation, the loss of a loved one, the loss of an ideal, the loss of ones marbles etc..

Yep, I can relate, SEA. (((HUGS))) I see this on different levels: saying that silent goodbye to a person, to an ideal, to a dream, or a desire of the soul. Very well done!

Wow, really liked this one. Reminds me a bit of a piece I wrote. I'll post it if I can find it.

Goodbye is the hardest word to say.....whether it be to a person....place or thing.  When our hearts are attached.....it is difficult to let go.  Great job on the poem though.....I understand completely.....love the pic by the way.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Susan, this is so very sadly beautiful, sweet friend, I hope it isn't really goodbye as I know that premonition and it can be so difficult to deal with! (sigh) I send angel hugs out, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank youn for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Susan, this struck me, especially with the accompanying picture, as someone who intentionally did not say goodbye to a place..perhaps a place where they once lived..knowing that one day they would return.
This is very beautiful.
