In My Bed |

I could be branded for life. For in my bed more than once lay the head of a child, sometimes even two. Snuggled beside me, dreaming of chariots and ponies, sand castles and frogs, lollipops and strawberry cake, weary little limbs felt the warmth and safety of a mother's love. And Michael, I believe you when you say this was the same kind of love you always offered to the little ones. What ever happened to our perceptions of love? Are we all so jaded that because his face has been 'masked' or remade that he has done what is generally considered the unthinkable deed? I, too, could be branded for life, for in my bed more than once lay the head of a child seeking warmth from another human soul. Best you hang me now, for it may happen again. |

Michael would love to read this right about now. This would give him comfort in his hour of need. He is a very gifted and unique talent and often people like himself can be rather eccentric. His childhood was taken from him and he seems to be living it through the young people he has in his life. I pray that behind closed doors he is treating the children with love and respect. I enjoyed reading your poem, and I --like you and Michael--are guilty of love fests of giggles and telling stories with my kids in my king-size bed! I am a kid at heart as well! Warm hugs, EA |

I wouldn't trade those moments for world! This really touched me, Midnitesun. A wonderful write. Maree. [This message has been edited by Dark Angel (02-07-2003 02:48 PM).] |

Thank you, Bill. I feel this particular star has problems with reality, but look at his life. I've never believed most of the tabloid and other media dirt stories about him, and find it interesting that he still has so many people who are close to him backing him up, as a good father and a gentle, if somewhat strange child-like soul. Maree? If I could, I'd reach across the oceans and hug you right now! I would never give up those moments either! |

I saw the special too. There is much about Michael that makes me wonder, but I understood and yes, I believed him about the bed--and yep I am a snuggle cuddler too. I know this married couple--both friends from childhood, and I have, on occasion spent the night and crawled in bed with both of THEM. The three of us laugh now, not caring what others thought we were doing...smile. But if you don't tell anyone? I'll confess our secret--after we took down the sheet that made up our "tent"--we had played "camping trip" and told ghost stories by flashlight-- we all snuggled in together to watch classic cartoons, eating peanut butter and crackers in bed--oooh-ain't-we-naughty? And yes, both of our daughters had joined the game, the other kids were "too cool" and rolled their eyes. But I bet we had more fun than they did... Enjoyed the poem. And I agree with you about Michael, as I can't picture Peter Pan having sex either... |

Karen, I didn't see the special, but I read about it on the internet this morning. OK, I won't tell on you if you don't tell on me about all the silly things we do to make life joyous for ourselves and for the children. Hugs to you dearest witchy one. And PBJ's taste BEST when eaten in tents and beds. Andrea, thanks! Thank you for reading and commenting. |

Fascinating poem. Like many a dad, I am close to my kids and express that bond with as many hugs and kisses as their teenage sensitivities will allow. (I do miss their snuggly adolescence!) And on that level, I relate to your poem. Because I believe MJ is a victim of abuse, it was saddening to watch the "documentary". Could not but help think of all who suffer from having been deprived a loving childhood environment, only to have it replaced with mental and physical abuse. If I learned anything by watching, it's not so much to rationalize his behavior, but to be the best father I can. Ah, the power of poetry...see how it inspires us to share! Thanks! Rf |

RF, thank you so much for your comments! I didn't see the 'documentary' but am a bit suspicious about the slant it may have taken. Dixie, when you find the words, let me know what your take is on this, especially if you watched the TV show that I apparently missed. |

Cuddling Isn't CUDDLING, Sleeping isn't SLEEPING; And "In bed," of course, never means IN BED. Nicely said, mama...... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

?Ratleader? Cuddling indeed can be just that, and I usually just sleep in my bed. Except for when I'm reading and eating PBJ's or having pretzels and a beer. |

well I never watched the news or heard the story of whatever the case is that this relates to. But apart from that... This made me think of nights when my family was all together and I'd run to their room in the middle of the night and sleep between mommy and daddy on the water bed. *somewhat happy sigh* and might I add, even now (well I'm 15) I've taken the bottom of my bunk bed out and added sheets around it to make it a fort! Enjoyed Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

Midnite I didn't see the special on Michael Jackson, but I can think I know how it went. Many a night I slept with a husband, three kids, and two dogs...and it was lovely. In my time as a teacher of young children, I wondered when a hug would be outlawed. Hugs for writing this. |

Oh Alyssa, that sounds like a fun place to hang out with a flashlight, a poetry journal, and a midnight snack! The poem was in reference to a so-called documentary about Michael Jackson, that apparently aired in Great Britain and the USA. I missed it too, but read about it. |

Martie, thank you so much for sharing this. It just re-enforces my belief that the media play is mostly hype. His image has become so distorted...in part by his own doing I'm afraid. But I think he is being put through a ringer hung out to dry unfairly. |
