It all came in a box... no a sealed cardboard package better still a shoestring tied, daily newspaper wrapped and sealed parcel... dumped on a snow piled doorway.. a knobby kneed child lifted the box the newspaper wrapped parcel that is.. and examined its identity was this a gift that came from her dad who was separated from her Mom? they'd exchange Xmas gifts and their relationship would linger between the multiple wrappings of unmarked packages.... it all came from a box slowly its sheathing would unfurl and wet paper tape uncurl together with the broken promises of an absent parent who took pride in excessive wrappings and offered his daughter trivial trappings. |

How sad. It is amazing how many children experience this miserable moment. Far better to visit and play with the child in the park for even 10 minutes, than to send a package. A good write about a sad subject. |

while lots of you are dabbling in the happy/humorous stuff it's good to see what hits the chronically sad child, Enjoy your holidays too Midnite and Blues, thanks for sharing. [This message has been edited by ecrivan (12-20-2002 12:55 PM).] |
