Backwaters of Avalon

When the world lies
dormant in their waking hours,
Silence permeates this place,
leaving ruins behind.

Clouds of melancholy always
arrive at these times inopportune
when the belfry announces the beginning
of another's misfortune.

Chaos leads people to the
unforseen. Moving about fidgeting
and not knowing what of life remains,
they hold their arms up begging.

Mercy, their last hopes
dimmed, their lives misgiven
Alas, they are the innocent people
from the land forgotten.

(Dedicated to the wish to stop any war against Iraq!)

- James
The beauty of nature is displayed,
not through itself,
but through the creatures
dwelling within its bosom.

There are so many viewpoints and each one is valid.  Good argument.  Joyce

Thanks for the comments. I am no politician, but military actions should be a last resort when dealing with crises!

hope the sentiments here always stay fresh and never just part of an archive.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

Thank you all. I guess is probably inevitable at this stage, but really people shouldn't suffer as a result of it.

Thanks. I guess now this poem is not longer relevant. However, I just wish that people in this world can simply sit down and rethink what they have done to themselves.
